How Vellum works, step by step
Five short steps: create an account, accept an invite, open a client Hub, send a payment and keep the conversation going. Written for anyone — no technical knowledge needed.
- 01
Create your account
Everything starts with a free account. It takes under a minute.
- Open the sign-up page and enter your email address and a password, or choose Continue with Google.
- Confirm your email if you are asked to — the confirmation link arrives from Vellum within a minute.
- You land straight in a short setup: name your workspace, add your first client, and paste the links you already use for files, chat and invoices.
- At the end you get one Hub link to send to that client. That link is the whole product.
Vellum stores the link only. Your files and conversations stay where they already live.
- 02
Accept an invite to someone else's workspace
If a colleague invited you, do not start a new workspace — accept the invite instead.
- Open the invitation email and use the same email address it was sent to.
- Sign up (or sign in) with that exact address. Vellum matches the pending invite automatically and puts you in their workspace.
- If you signed up with a different address, ask the workspace owner to resend the invite to the address you actually used.
- Team invites are part of the Agency plan; on Solo a workspace has a single seat.
- 03
Open a Hub link as a client
Clients never create an account. They open one link and see everything.
- The Hub opens in any browser — phone or desktop — with no password.
- Inside are the current project status, the documents folder, the chat thread and any invoice, each as a single tap.
- Every tile opens the original tool: Drive, Dropbox, WhatsApp, Slack, Stripe or PayPal.
- If a link ever stops working, the owner can reissue the Hub; the old address stops opening immediately.
Want to see one first? Open the sample portal on the demo page — no sign-up.
- 04
Send a payment
Two different payments exist in Vellum. They are easy to mix up.
- Client invoices: the client taps the invoice tile in the Hub and pays in Stripe or PayPal — your own account, your own money, Vellum never touches it.
- Your Vellum subscription: open Pricing, choose Solo or Agency and pay by card. Every subscription starts with a 7-day trial.
- Card payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Your receipt comes from Paddle.
- You can change plan or cancel at any time from Billing inside your account. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you paid for.
There is a 14-day money-back guarantee on subscriptions.
- 05
Use messages and get help
Conversations stay in the tool you and your client already use.
- The chat tile points at the existing thread — WhatsApp, Slack, email, whatever you chose. Replying there is normal messaging, nothing new to learn.
- Need something from us? Open Support inside your account and send a ticket; it reaches a real person, and the reply comes back by email.
- Not signed in yet? Write to info@vellumhub.app or use the contact form on the legal page.
- Urgent billing questions should include the email address on the account so we can find it quickly.
